Nurse's Notes
As hearing and vision screenings come to a close, and the weather becomes more fall-like, my thoughts turn to cold and flu season. Please remember that children with a temperature of 100 degrees or higher should be kept home from school. They must remain out of school until they are fever free for a full 24 hours without being given Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen. Some symptoms of the flu include muscle aches, extreme fatigue, chills, and a temperature of 100 degrees or higher lasting from 2-4 days. Stuffy nose, sneezing and sore throat are rare in cases of flu, they are common cold symptoms. It is rare to run a high fever with a common cold.
Please remember the importance of good and frequent hand washing, a good night's sleep, and a balanced diet with regular meal times.
