Live Webcast, "Read Now with Taylor Swift"
"Soon, the third and fourth grade students of James C. Bush Elementary School will get to connect with a famous musician while sharing an educational message: "Reading is powerful!" After reaching 2 million students with her Fall 2010 Live Webcast, “Read Now with Taylor Swift,” one of the world’s most successful singer-songwriters returns to Scholastic.com in a LIVE Webcast about the power of literacy. On October 24, in a new 30-minute online classroom event, Taylor Swift shares “where reading can take you” and how great literature has inspired her writing. Johnsburg Junior High Band Concert
The Fourth Grade Team walked over to the Johnsburg Junior High School where they had the privilege of listening to the wonderful musical talent of the 7th & 8th Grade Band! It was a wonderful experience and we are so proud of the students who are a part of the 7th & 8th Grade Band!

Veterans' Day Assembly
Students invited veterans from their families to join us in honoring those who have served our country. Live video streaming of the McHenry County College Veterans' Day Assembly was viewed by all in attendance and a reception was held afterward.

Matt Wilhelm, Guest Speaker and Performer
Matt Wilhelm, as seen on America's Got Talent, is a 3-Time X Games Medalist and 2-Time National Champion. In addition to wowing the audience with his amazing tricks, Matt conveyed very powerful messages. He spoke to students about making positive choices in their lives and never giving up on their dreams. He even shared some words of wisdom on how to overcome bullying. The students and staff at James C. Bush Elementary School would like to thank the PTO for providing the funding for this awesome assembly!

Students made decorated pinwheels which were placed outside and sang songs celebrating and encouraging peace throughout the world.

AR Brick Dedication Ceremony
The students earning this reward each placed a brick into our walkway. We also honored retired teachers Mrs. Sylvia Asplund and Mr. Tim HarriSon with a brick.
